The KEPW Weekly News team is a group of community members that identify as being from KEPW or other organizations that are interested in reporting on the under-reported, and helping to bring community happenings to a wider audience. We tend to focus on a number of local issues such as the unhoused, emergency preparedness, and public meetings by the City of Eugene and various other agencies and groups.
For people interested in being citizen journalists, and reporting on local happenings, the KEPW Weekly News Team is a great opportunity to work in a supportive environment. We meet once a week (Monday’s at 11am at the time of this writing) over Zoom to share ideas and discuss the previous week’s program, as well as what people will be working on for the following week.
We produce one edition of KEPW News Weekly Edition each week, with volunteers gathering news, doing interviews, and turning in their segments for each program. Both those with experience and those who are new to making news are welcome, and training is available in the use of audio editing software and other techniques you’ll need to produce articles for the show.
If you would like to attend a meeting to learn more and meet the group fill out the volunteer form on this website.
