From Podcasting to Programming

“EUGENE, Ore.”  Eugene PeaceWorks and Reality Kitchen, Bakery and Cafe will be co-sponsoring a fund raising and awareness event with food, beer, wine and cider, next Friday, April 29, 2016 from 6:30-8 p.m. held at Reality Kitchen, where members of the public are invited to attend a celebratory community gathering of individuals launching Eugene and Springfield’s newest ,“ non commercial community radio station, ” for a suggested $5.00 donation.

Community members who attend will also be included in the “after party,” meeting held from 7:00 to 7:45 p.m , and to listen to a benefit concert of roots music performed by  talented local musician Rob Tobias, and participate in a facilitated discussion, where attendees are encouraged to offer input in regard to what the “locals,” would prefer to hear on their “local airwaves.” The Reality Kitchen Bakery and Cafe is located at 645 River Road, Eugene, Ore. ( Adjacent to Countryside Pizza)

KEPW is Eugene and Springfield’s newest Homegrown Community Radio Station, an FM station initiated by Eugene PeaceWorks, along with an active Radio Advisory Committee who have been working diligently to promote the station and its mission statement. In 2014, the FCC granted a permit to start the community station whose mission will be to dedicate air time to “providing a broader outlook,” where, “ no voices will be left unheard.” KEPW Homegrown Community Radio, “is committed to bringing the diverse voices, music and discussion of controversial issues from unique local, regional, and national programs to Eugene and Springfield.” KEPW is projected to be on air by September of 2016 .
